Apple Watch Band Care Guide

General Care

Remove the band from your Apple Watch before cleaning. Use a soft, nonabrasive, lint-free cloth and avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, hydrogen peroxide, abrasive cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, and direct heat. Allow every band to dry completely before reconnecting it to your watch.

Care requirements vary by product. Follow any product-specific instructions provided on the item page or packaging.

Silicone and Everyday Sport Styles

  • Wipe with a soft cloth lightly dampened with fresh water.
  • If needed, use a small amount of mild, hypoallergenic hand soap on suitable silicone or sport-style bands.
  • Rinse residue from the cloth and wipe again.
  • Dry the band fully with a clean lint-free cloth before wearing.

Even where a band is water-resistant, rinse and dry it after exposure to sweat, saltwater, chlorine, sunscreen, or lotion.

Leather Bands

  • Wipe gently with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.
  • If necessary, very lightly dampen the cloth with fresh water.
  • Do not soak, rinse under running water, swim, shower, or exercise heavily while wearing leather unless the product page expressly says otherwise.
  • Air dry thoroughly away from direct sunlight, heaters, high temperature, and high humidity.

Leather can naturally develop a patina or change color over time. Perfume, oil, lotion, insect repellent, sweat, and dark dyed fabrics may stain or discolor it.

Metal, Chain, Pearl, Crystal, Resin, and Charm Styles

  • Wipe after wear with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
  • Keep away from perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, lotion, sunscreen, household cleaners, and other chemicals.
  • Remove before swimming, showering, sleeping, intense workouts, or activities involving impact unless the product is expressly designed for them.
  • Store flat or separately in a dry place to reduce scratches, tangling, and pressure on decorations.
  • Do not pull on charms, pearls, crystals, or decorative links when removing the watch.

Skin Comfort

Keep both your wrist and band clean and dry. Wear the band securely but not excessively tight. Although applicable products may be described as nickel-free or hypoallergenic, individual sensitivities vary. Stop wearing the band if irritation develops and seek appropriate medical advice if symptoms persist.

Plating and Color

Plated, painted, and polished finishes can gradually change with friction and exposure. This is normal wear rather than a manufacturing defect. Gentle handling and limiting contact with moisture and chemicals can help preserve the finish.
